Snow Day, Work, and No takesies-backsies.

It didn't end up snowing until 4pm on Tuesday. I had a strong inkling that there was a snow day coming so what is a girl to do? Why that's simple of course. I needed to stop and stock up on some snow day essentials. Now I've never understood this whole bread, eggs, and milk phenomena. Let me break this down for you. I think I eat less than two slices of bread a month. We buy eggs and nine times out of 10 we get the small 6 pack and even then we don't use them before they spoil. Finally, we come to milk. For traumatic reasons that I'd rather not go into at the moment- I don't drink milk. Milk in my coffee-sure (but let's be real- flavored creamer always when possible). Milk in my character shaped macaroni and cheese (Monster's University is my favorite but Phineas and Pherb is a close second)-you betcha. Milk-as in pour into a glass and drink. Nope. Not happening. When my husband was deployed I would buy the smallest possible container of milk that you can purchase at the store (had to be a plastic bottle not carton- again traumatic memories) and you guessed it...I wasn't even able to finish that either.

How rude of me though, I've gone on a complete tangent. OK, so we have established milk, eggs, and bread. I'm sure you can also imagine that since it never snows in NC the last thing that I would do is brave a grocery store. Why...so I can look at empty shelves and people acting like they are about to make a grand voyage to Antarctica. No thanks. I kept it really classy and went to the gas station instead. I bought essential snow day supplies: a 3 pack of 25oz bud light, 2 cans of pringles (loaded baked potato and classic cheddar cheese if you were interested), a bag of pizza flavored combos...because...combos, and a box of sweetarts. Like I said-essentials. Well I was right and around 10pm that night I got a text saying that the courthouse was closed-which meant my office was closed. I had a celebration beer and watches 2 episodes of RHOBH and 1 episode of RHOA. Holy drama! It's getting good. At one point of RHOA I was yelling fight, fight, fight and then I had to watch the entire thing in slow motion to try and figure out why Apollo was beating up some guy he never met before. I am so confused. I guess I'll have to wait until next week.

Today was snow day. My husband and I were both off but we had a very low key day. He spent most of it working on presentations and I alternated between reading, watching youtube, and napping. It was simply glorious. I got a text while I was semi napping and thought I had almost imagined it. I checked my phone and it was my boss texting me to say that the courthouse was closed tomorrow...again and therefore we were also closed again. My boss then said for my coworker to let her know if anything important needed to be done. Now this REALLY surprised me because I had taken full advantage of my snow day and all day I had been mentally preparing myself to go back to work tomorrow. The roads seem fine and my husband is going back to work tomorrow, at a later start then usual but back to work nonetheless. Well...ok then. I guess I'm off of work. Around dinner time I went outside and cleared off both of our cars and let me tell you it was quite the job but surprisingly invigorating. I get back inside and there is a text on my phone. It says "Laura and I are going in around noon. But you can stay home." Umm ok...awkward. So only three us work at the office including myself. So if 2/3 of the office is there...shouldn't I be there? But I really don't have anything pressing to work on at the moment and if I ended up going I could see it now, "Why did you come in? I said you didn't have to." So I'm supposed to have another snow day when the roads are good to drive on and my boss and coworker are at work. Again, ugh. Well I guess I'm just going to have a snow day but now it feels like an awkward, uncomfortable snow day, and how am I supposed to enjoy one of those?
